Five designs of the free printable Christmas gift list and budget tracker: Cozy Cottage, Classic Red & Plaid, Pink Coquette, Old Money and Scandi Minimalist

The 5 Designs

  • Cozy Cottage: soft sage, warm wood tones and a little berry sprig
  • Classic Red & Plaid: red and green plaid with holly, for a traditional Christmas
  • Pink Coquette: blush pink, a satin-style bow and pretty italic lettering
  • Old Money: deep green, antique gold and an elegant double frame
  • Scandi Minimalist: clean lines, lots of white space and a simple wooden star

How to Set a Christmas Gift Budget

  1. Start with the total. Decide how much you can spend on gifts this year without using money you need for January.
  2. List everyone. Family, partner, friends, coworkers, teachers and anyone who gets a small thank-you.
  3. Split the total into a budget for each person. Closest people get more; everyone else gets a small, thoughtful gift.
  4. Write ideas, then shop. Filling in the gift idea column first stops last-minute impulse buys.
  5. Track as you go. Tick “bought” and “wrapped” and write down what you really spent.

Ways to Give More and Spend Less

  • Secret Santa with friends or family, so everyone buys one better gift instead of many small ones. Our free Secret Santa generator draws the names for you
  • Homemade gifts: cookies in a tin, a playlist, a framed photo, a candle you made yourself
  • Experiences: a picnic you plan, a movie night, a day trip together
  • Shop early and watch for sales in November
  • Match the gift to their aesthetic. A small gift in someone’s exact style feels more personal than an expensive random one.

Printing Tips

  • Pick your paper size. Choose US Letter if you live in the US or Canada, and A4 almost everywhere else.
  • Print with “Fit” or “Scale to fit” turned on, so nothing gets cut off at the edges.
  • Print only the page you want. The PDF has 5 pages; type the page number into your print settings.
  • Use thicker paper (65–80 lb cardstock or 120 gsm) if you want it to last all season on the fridge or a bulletin board.
  • No printer? Save the PDF to your phone and take it to any print shop or library.

Christmas Gift List FAQ

How do I keep track of Christmas gifts?

Write every person on one list with a gift idea and a budget, then check off each gift when you buy it and again when you wrap it. Keeping it on paper in one place means you won’t double-buy or forget someone.

How much should I spend on Christmas gifts?

There’s no right number. Start with what you can afford without borrowing or using your savings, then divide it between people. A thoughtful small gift is always better than debt in January.

Is this printable really free?

Yes. It’s free for personal use, so print as many copies as you like for your home, your family, your friends or your classroom. Please don’t sell it or upload the PDF somewhere else; share a link to this page instead.

Gift Ideas by Budget

Under $15: a cozy pair of socks, a scented candle, a pretty notebook, a framed photo, a homemade cookie tin. $15 to $40: a chunky knit throw, a silk scrunchie set, a book with a handwritten note, a coffee or tea sampler. $40 and up: a quality skincare set, a cashmere-blend scarf, or an experience you do together. For more ideas sorted by style, see our aesthetic gift guide.

How to Use the Bought and Wrapped Columns

Tick bought the moment a gift arrives, not when you order it, so delayed packages don’t slip through the cracks. Tick wrapped once it is labeled; if you use our free gift tags, write the name on the tag first so nothing gets mixed up under the tree.

At the end of the season, compare your real total with your budget. It is the easiest way to plan a more relaxed Christmas next year.
