  • Name and year, so you can keep your lists and look back on them
  • 12 wishes, each with a column for where to find it (a store, a website or “any color”) and the price
  • A “top pick” check box, so people know which wishes matter most to you
  • Experiences I’d love: concert tickets, a pottery class, a day trip
  • Little things for my stocking: lip balm, fuzzy socks, a favorite snack

The 5 Designs

How to Write a Wish List People Will Actually Use

  • Be specific. “Cream chunky knit sweater, size M” is much easier to shop for than “a sweater.”
  • Mix price ranges. Add a few small things under $15 so everyone can find something that fits their budget.
  • Say where to find it, but add “or similar” when you don’t mind a different brand.
  • Mark your top picks, so the people who love you know what would make you happiest.
  • Add experiences. Tickets, classes and a day out together often mean more than another thing.
  • Share it early, by the first week of December, so there’s time for shipping.

Doing a gift exchange? Draw names with our free Secret Santa generator, then ask everyone to print a wish list so their Santa knows what to get.

Printing Tips

  • Pick your paper size. Choose US Letter if you live in the US or Canada, and A4 almost everywhere else.
  • Print with “Fit” or “Scale to fit” turned on, so nothing gets cut off at the edges.
  • Print only the page you want. The PDF has 5 pages; type the page number into your print settings.
  • Use thicker paper (65–80 lb cardstock or 120 gsm) if you want it to last all season on the fridge or a bulletin board.
  • No printer? Save the PDF to your phone and take it to any print shop or library.

Christmas Wish List FAQ

How do I make an aesthetic Christmas wish list?

Pick a template that matches your style, then fill it with things that fit your aesthetic: colors, materials and brands you love. Keeping the whole list in one style also makes it easier for others to choose gifts you’ll like.

What should I put on my Christmas wish list as an adult?

Things you’ll use every day (a good sweater, skincare, a new mug), upgrades of things you already own, experiences, and one or two treats you wouldn’t buy for yourself. Add sizes, colors and links wherever you can.

Is this printable really free?

Yes. It’s free for personal use, so print as many copies as you like for your home, your family, your friends or your classroom. Please don’t sell it or upload the PDF somewhere else; share a link to this page instead.
